Red Eye is an everyday show for me and one of the best shows of
today's everyday media.
I'm up at 3 a.m. eagerly awaiting the NEWS of the day told by a
clever cast of characters FNC should be proud to hold as talent.
Yet talent is for the mediocre who has learned to
be extraordinarily good at a skill (like Shep). In the case of
Greg Gutfeld, Andy Levy and Bill Schulz we're talking genius.
So, the other night when Anna David was on (actually, the last
time she appeared as a guest), I awoke right before 3 a.m. and
did so prompted by some unusually strange and energetic dreams.
First off, while driving home from somwhere w/ my wife, I was
joking around and saying that I liked the Chateau Marmont so
much that I could be it's "care taker." Of course, I was playing
off the movie, the Shining.
How absolutely bizarre however I dreamy of a hotel room where
Bill Schulz was dressed-up in a fury bunny costume and on his
knees in front of Greg Outfield who was sitting at the edge of a
bed in a tuxedo. Which, of course, this is a direct scene from
the movie, the Shining.
Then I had some most pleasing dreams with excellent imagery of
music festivals via the perspective of an all access comrade,
poet, film maker, who traveled toll after toll, town after town,
city after city = Dimetapp and Spinal Tap, a city map and hand
claps. I was even viewing walking through streets, backstage
doors, and the dirt paths of musical festivals all over the
U.S. The clothes, the hair, the gear, the attitude all
recognizable rocker lifestyle = on the road, making the scene:
day to day, hour to hour.
Two late 70's American cars were parked along a dirt road back
off the stage of an outdoor music festival. A group of rockers
which I made out as two separate bands and some hangers
congregated in a circle. They were all aware they were being
filmed by my hand held camera. I come in amidst conversation
where one rocker is saying, "try having the soul of a black
blues man in a white musicians body who looks like this." This
was a scruffy Paul McCartney (almost from like the Let It Be
days). And, an unmistakable youngish Keith Richards who looks
like he's embraced Americana with a metropolitan flair gives a
quick but poignant retort, "tell me about it!"
Next scene: A youngish Mick Jagger also looking like having
embraced Americana with a metropolitan flair sits on-the-top of
the hood of the Monte Carlo along with Keith Richards
nonchalantly posing while being interviewed and allowing for
great shots to capture the surreal moment. The Beatles are
gathered by the other 70's ish American car which looks to be
like a GTO or something.
I awake and start watching Red Eye which minutes later is
talking about Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney.
At the end of show Andrew Levy makes reference to me, "John
French" and my website and Anna David's placement on the rough
draft I have for the Top 50 Hottest Women of Everyday
Media along w/ some other samples for my soon to be released
e-book on mystrawhat.com
