Yesterday I was at the Duquense Club in
Pittsburgh (where the likes of Andrew Carnegie used to
"kick it" - voted one of the best urban clubs in the country)
for Manjeet Kripalani,
Edward R. Murrow Press Fellow, Council on Foreign
Relations, Formerly
India Bureau Chief,
BusinessWeek, and I had the opportunity to view a special
exhibit of Native American Indian art and "cowboy" stuff as
well.
It was really neat to see Sitting Bull's "scalping knife and
sheath" and
Buffalo Bills "rifle" (used in battle) and Red Cloud's
"war tomahawk" --- as well as many other authentic artifacts and
letters and original artwork.
Given that
Pittsburgh used to the wealthiest city in the world at
one point and still has a little, Pittsburgh's Duquense Club has
a rich collection of artwork for a private club.
