Yesterday was perfect.
We didn't waste the dawn.
At 5:30 a.m. up for a walk
Parker Bean gave a yawn.
We passed green lawns
And big, tasteful houses
With manicured property -
Birds singing morning songs.
We were in bed watching TV
- Betty and T.J. on CNN -
And feel asleep for a while
Until my wife woke us to go.
I wore a white Polo shirt that
Was tucked into R.L. shorts
W/ a belt & canvas sneakers
And our country club red hat
We hung at the club pool
And shopped for our super
Which we grilled outside
Drinking big glasses of
Chardonnay & Pinot Noir
Listening to music from
The 20's, 30's and 40's
On the radio station 90.5
Then we watched a movie.
Afterward I jammed outside
With my six string acoustic.
I love playing guitar at nite w/
Some fine champagne cognac
Until I'm tired enough to sleep
And this morning is the same.
I'm glad to be inside the game.
I drank my rich double espresso
And played plenty morning songs
Strumming passionately on guitar.
I wrote a poem for Suzanne M.
And I'll maybe nap before we go
Back to have beers at the pool.
The sky is a sky blue sky and
Flowers sit on our Ethan Allen
Dinning room 1976 wood table.
They're hybrids, pink peonies...
We have pebbles in the vase
Which you can see through the
Clear glass sitting there in water...
