He was standing there in the garden at dusk
The sun was slowly still burning its embers
Having finished tying-up some tomato plants
He was doing trimming to unruly grape vines
It was the 1st of July and it was a cool 70

From the green grass fireflies were rising
One was aglow in the lawn by his feet and
He noticed its light yet it wasn't moving along
He flashed-back to words of his grandfather
Which echoed in his head like a big canyon,

"Eat a lightening bug & you'll shine like a star
And everyone will see how you shine and know
You're someone special - someone famous
With that extra little twinkle in your eye -
Those girls will really take notice and adore you
And, in a sense, that firefly will be alive inside you."

He picked it up and ate it and felt his soul aglow.
He caught his reflection and saw his eyes were twinkling.
He was tanned and looked younger than he really was -
And he was on the verge of becoming someone famous.
He already shined like a radiant star and people took notice
