Dear Hemmer:

What the hell does that song from the 70's "Ricky Don't Lose That Number" mean anyway?!

As a young gradeschool kid in the late 70's, I used to hear that freakin' song all the freakin' time and, you know, unfortunately, it sticks with you!

And even then I tried to figure out what the f-ck that song means!

Who's Ricky?! Who's singing to him?! What f-cking number?! Why may he need it when he feels better?! Why may he need it when he gets home?! What's a matter w/ Ricky?! Where is Ricky?! Why is some dude singing a song for him?!

And, you know, Bill, last early evening while delirious from lack of sleep and pushing myself, while I was putting away my clothing, that f-cking song to Ricky about that freakin' number which haunted me through-out the 70's and 80's popped into my head and started f-cking haunted me all over again.

Please try and shed some light on this for me.
