Dear Greg, this morning I heard you mentioning
Apocalypse Now and it seems that movies disturbs you a bit
and you do not understand or appreciate its point of view and value.
For some reason I was fascinated w/ the Vietnam war and the turmoil
of and around it and I studied-up a bit. I really enjoyed
Francis Ford Coppola's take on it w/ the theme of Joseph
Conrad's Heart of Darkness. I like Coppol's purposeful use of The
End by the Doors, that the studios quit backing him and he used his
on money to finance the rest of it for completion and release,
Lawrence Fishburn lying about his age to be able to work in the
film, Martin Shenn's breakdown's, Marlon Brando.
Here is something I wrote in 1998 in reaction to the film after I
had time to watch it a few times and digest it.
Please,
do not judge me as a murderer for I do not judge
the world puppets you have created.
I do not judge you for this hell.
But do not judge me as a murderer
after you gave your puppets the order to murder
in the name of your cause, and, I am sick now.
Sick of this filthy shit rotted smell
that lingers through the jungle air.
Do not judge me as a murderer
when I killed for you and it was glorified.
Now I kill with nature's precision
and I do not think. I feel by senses.
Just because you have the right political backing
does it make your killings more valid than mine?
For - did not nature exist before man, anyhow?
